The
Association of Moral and Cognizance is a free and independent
social, cultural and training foundation which was established by a
number of religious scholars, university lecturers, teachers,
students, and benevolent intellectuals in Herat Province in 1381
(2002).
The main goal
of the Association of Moral and Cognizance is to publicize original
Islamic concepts, eradicate religious [and social] superstitions,
fight against decadent intellectual and cultural challenges of the
contemporary world, and in general, to revive the public’s religious
duty and step up the call for God (Dawat elallah) through scheduled,
concrete programmes on the basis of Koran, which says: Invite the
people to God with thought and advice.
The association
is determined to achieve this holy duty on the basis of Koran, the
prophet’s Sunnah, the lives of previous scholars, and benefit from
the experience of former religious scholars from across the world.
To that end, it is trying to effectively train and educate
experienced, committed, faithful and competent cadre and invite to
God and bring about reforms in various social strata by reforming
and educating every individual, family and community.
The
association’s practical programmes concentrate on four bases:

1. Library:
The
association’s library includes various intellectual and professional
books, which are freely provided for the members of the association,
school and university students and other social strata.
2.
Publications:
a. The
association publishes a monthly called Marefat (Cognizance) to
deeply analyze and reflect various social and intellectual issues.
b. The
association also publishes a quarterly called Taliha (Vanguard),
mainly for the elementary and high school students.
3.
Theological lessons and courses:
These courses
are offered for both sisters and brothers regularly on a weekly
basis at the association’s headquarters. A number of teachers offer
the lessons that include Koran interpretation, the life of the
prophet, hadees, beliefs, religious jurisprudence books and other
reference books. In addition, Arabic and sometimes English language
training courses are held. The association also conducts monthly or
quarterly religious and cultural conferences under this programme.
4. Moral
training programmes:
These include
practical programmes under wish the members of association improve
their spiritual and physical character in terms religious, moral and
personality.
Administrative system
The
association’s administrative system is based on counseling (Shura).
General assembly is held annually to elect the general manager and
counseling members (25 members) of the association. The general
manager then chooses seven people among the counseling members to
form a board of directors for one year, provided that they receive
vote of confidence from the general assembly. For further
